As Chair, Kati spearheaded efforts to create a new segment for the Friday news casts, called Modern Living. The segment focuses on environmentally-friendly initiatives and ideas for viewers that will also save them money or will be fun and beneficial for the whole family. The segment has its own graphics package, which Kati helped create, and will soon have a sponsor. The Go Green Committee is something Meredith Corporation is pushing for all stations to start, and Kati's initiatives at WALA have inspired other stations in the Meredith umbrella to move forward with their own Go Green actions, as she has participated in corporate conference calls, presenting her work to create the Modern Living segment.
